The motif of three hares is a symbol from before the times of Christianity and adopted into many religions. It is found in sacred sites from the Middle and Far East to the churches of southwest England and historical synagogues in Europe. The symbol features three hares or rabbits chasing each other in a circle.

Earliest examples can be found in China and later in Mongol artwork, in Russian reliquaries, in synagogues and cathedrals. The three hares are both symbol and a puzzle, as described in a 1576 Dutch engraving:

The secret is not great when one knows it.
But it is something to one who does it.
Turn and turn again and we will also turn,
So that we give pleasure to each of you.
And when we have turned, count our ears,
It is there, without any disguise, you will find a marvel. [.]

Like the Triskelion, the Triquetra, and their antecedents (e.g., the triple spiral), the symbol of the three hares has a threefold rotational symmetry. Each of the ears is shared by two hares, so that only three ears are shown. The motif is thought to have symbolic or mystical associations with fertility and the lunar cycle.

The Three Hares fits all Faerybeads bracelet and necklace chains and most chains from major brands.
